Amanda Jensen graduated from Hartwick college in 2006 and made her way to Long Wharf Theatre where she was the lighting and audio resident for the Next Stage Program for the 2006/2007 season. While at Long Wharf Amanda designed the lights for that season's Next Stage Production of Swimming in the Shallows by Adam Bock. Once her year in New Haven was complete Amanda moved to Philadelphia. After a short hiatus from theatre Amanda began working as a lighting designer in the Philly theatre community.

Amanda has designed for The Arden (Treasure Island, Snow White), Theatre Exile (Really), Gunner Montana Productions (Kink HausWroughtland), Inis Nua (The Monster in the Hall, Love Lies & Taxidermy, The Swallowing Dark, Radiant Vermin, Spine), Almanac Dance Circus Theatre (Jeanne/Jean/John/Jawn, XOXO Moongirl)The Lantern (The Heir Apparent, Screwtape Letters), and Robi Hager’s New Musical Basic Witches. In June her work for the 2017 production of Kink Haus will be exhibited at the 2019 Prague Quadrennial as part of the USITT/USA exhibition of professional designers.

Amanda is also a founding member and resident designer of Paper Doll Ensemble. Paper Doll Ensemble is a collective of badass creators who make original devised work in Philadelphia that combining comedy, dance theatre, and visual art to create theatrical worlds with character-driven narratives that illuminate the absurdity of everyday life.
